Am I a good candidate for veneers?

You're likely to be a good candidate if your front teeth are healthy but discoloured, chipped, worn, slightly uneven or have small gaps, and your gums are healthy. Veneers are less suitable if you grind heavily, have active decay or gum disease, or your teeth are badly crowded. Sometimes whitening, bonding or aligners give the result you want with less change to your teeth.

Are veneers permanent?

Porcelain veneers usually need a thin layer of enamel removed, so they're a long-term commitment; the tooth will always need a veneer or crown. Some composite veneers need little or no preparation.

How long do veneers last?

Porcelain veneers often last 10 years or more with care; composite veneers usually need polishing or repair sooner.

Can I get veneers if I grind my teeth?

Sometimes, with a night guard. Heavy grinding can chip or crack veneers, so it needs to be managed first.

Can veneers fix crooked teeth?

Mildly uneven teeth, yes. More crooked teeth are better straightened first; otherwise a lot of tooth may need to be removed to make veneers look straight.

Will people know I have veneers?

Well-planned veneers look natural. A trial smile beforehand lets you see the shape and shade before anything is done.
