A prosthodontist is a dentist who has completed a further three-year master's degree (MDS) in prosthodontics, the branch of dentistry that restores and replaces teeth. That covers crowns, bridges, complete and partial dentures, implant-supported teeth and rebuilding a worn or damaged bite.
Should I see a prosthodontist or a general dentist?
For check-ups, cleaning and fillings, a general dentist is the right person. A prosthodontist is worth seeing when you need several teeth replaced, a denture that actually fits, implant teeth, or a full mouth rebuild. In short, anything where the bite and the design of the replacement teeth matter.
What is the difference between a prosthodontist and an orthodontist?
An orthodontist moves teeth into a better position with braces or aligners. A prosthodontist restores or replaces teeth. Some patients need both, and we have a specialist orthodontist at the clinic.
Does Dr. Adish place implants himself?
