Questions patients ask us

What is the difference between a paediatric dentist and a paediatrician?

A paediatric dentist is a dentist with specialist training in children's teeth. A paediatrician is a medical doctor for children's general health. At Petal Smiles, a specialist paediatric dentist sees children who need specialist dental care, and Dr. Sunisha Arora is the paediatrician.

My child has a swollen face from a tooth. Who should we see?

The dentist. Facial swelling from a tooth needs dental treatment. If your child also has a high fever, is very unwell, or has difficulty swallowing or breathing, go to a hospital emergency department.

Can both appointments be on the same day?

Call the clinic to ask whether both appointments can be arranged on the same visit. The dental and medical clinicians have separate schedules, so each appointment needs confirmation.
