Why the routine visits matter
Most dental problems are painless at first. Early decay, early gum disease and a cracked filling rarely hurt, and by the time they do, the fix is bigger. A ten-minute filling found at a check-up can be a root canal and a crown a year later. Regular check-ups and cleaning are the cheapest dentistry there is.
Toothache, root canal treatment or a crown?
A painful tooth needs a diagnosis before choosing treatment. Our root canal treatment guide covers single-visit options, repeat treatment and recovery. If the tooth needs rebuilding afterwards, see crowns after root canal treatment.
Not sure what you need?

Questions patients ask us
What is general dentistry?
It's the routine care most people need throughout life, such as check-ups, cleaning, fillings, root canals, crowns, simple extractions and treatment for gum disease and sensitivity. A general dentist is also the person who spots when you need a specialist.
How often should I see a dentist?
Every six to twelve months suits most adults. If you have gum disease, get frequent decay, smoke or have diabetes, more often is better. We'll suggest an interval after your first check-up.
Who will treat me?
Most general dentistry is with our general dentist. Dr. Adish Chaudhary provides root canal care and plans crowns; his specialist qualification is in prosthodontics. Complex teeth may need specialist assessment. Surgical extractions are done by our oral surgeon.
Can I get a check-up and clean in the same visit?
Yes, in most cases. Allow 45 minutes to an hour.
