The main aligner brands in India
| Brand | Made by | Supervision | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Invisalign | Align Technology (USA) | Clinic, in person | The best-known system, with options for teens (Invisalign Teen) and young children (Invisalign First) |
| ClearCorrect | Straumann Group (Switzerland) | Clinic, in person | Established system from a major implant and dental company |
| SureSmile | Dentsply Sirona (USA) | Clinic, in person | Aligner system from one of the largest dental manufacturers |
| Illusion Aligners | Illusion Aligners | Clinic, in person | Widely used by clinics across India |
| toothsi | makeO | Mostly remote, at-home model | Direct-to-consumer aligners, with scanning arranged by the company |
| Whistle | Whistle | Mostly remote, at-home model | Direct-to-consumer aligners |
All of them work the same basic way: a scan of your teeth, a computer plan of the movement, and a series of trays that each move the teeth a fraction of a millimetre. Where they differ is in the plastic, the planning software, the options for difficult movements, the price, and above all how closely a clinician supervises you.
Clinic aligners or at-home kits
| Clinic aligners (Invisalign and others) | At-home kits | |
|---|---|---|
| Assessment | Full examination, X-rays, gum check | Often a scan and photos |
| Who plans it | Your orthodontist | A remote team |
| Check-ups | In person every 6–10 weeks | Mostly by app or photos |
| Attachments and elastics | Used when needed | Varies by provider |
| Suits | Mild to complex cases | Simple crowding and spacing |
| If something goes off track | Adjusted at your next visit | Depends on the provider |
At-home aligners can be fine for straightforward cases in people with healthy teeth and gums. The risk is that problems such as gum disease, decay, short roots or a bite issue aren’t picked up, and teeth moved without checking them can be harmed. If you’re considering a kit, at least have a dental check-up and gum assessment first.
What really decides your result
- The plan. The software proposes movements; the orthodontist decides which are realistic and adds attachments, elastics or staging where needed. Research shows aligners are reliable for aligning and levelling teeth, less so for some rotations and for pulling teeth down into place, which is where expertise counts.
- Supervision. Regular checks catch teeth that aren’t “tracking” before weeks are lost.
- Your wear time. 20 to 22 hours a day, every day.
- Retainers. Without them, teeth drift back whatever brand you used.
How we choose for you
At Petal Smiles our specialist orthodontist examines your teeth and gums, takes X-rays and a 3D scan, and then recommends Invisalign or another established system for your case. If braces would do a better job, you’ll hear that too. You get a written plan and estimate for each suitable option. See Invisalign and clear aligners and the Invisalign cost guide.
Questions patients ask us
Which is the best aligner brand in India?
There isn't one best brand for everyone. Invisalign has the longest track record and the widest range of options. ClearCorrect, SureSmile and Illusion Aligners are established alternatives that suit many cases for less. The orthodontist's plan matters more than the brand.
Is Invisalign better than toothsi or Whistle?
They work differently. Invisalign is prescribed and supervised in person by a clinician. At-home kits such as toothsi and Whistle rely more on remote monitoring with fewer in-clinic visits, and usually suit only simple cases. For anything beyond mild crowding, in-person orthodontic supervision is safer.
Are cheaper aligners as good as Invisalign?
For many mild to moderate cases, a well-planned course with another established brand gives a similar result. For complex bites, the extra options in some systems and, above all, an experienced orthodontist make the difference.
Which aligners do you offer?
Our orthodontist offers Invisalign and other leading aligner systems, and recommends one after your scan based on your teeth, your bite and your budget.
Are Indian aligner brands safe?
Established brands used by orthodontists, Indian or international, are made from medical-grade plastics and planned from your scan. The risk with any aligner comes mostly from poor case selection and too little supervision, not the country it's made in.
